Shown here are my takeaways from all 48 PPM-measured markets, based on Nielsen Audio’s 6+ total week stats from the October 2025 ratings period (September 18 – October 15).
Round One
New York
September 2025 – October 2025 (6+) fluctuations of seven-tenths is the headline here. Off one-tenth in September, after being a combined +1.1 in July and August (7.5 – 8.4 – 8.6, 6+), iHeartMedia-owned Adult Contemporary WLTW drops seven-tenths to 7.4 (6+). That point notwithstanding, “106.7 Lite FM” is #1 the 38th consecutive time; August’s 8.6 was its strongest 6+-share since “Holiday” 2024’s 13.1.
Contrasted to WLTW being down seven-tenths, Spanish Broadcasting System Spanish Tropical WSKQ “La Mega 97.9” (4.5 – 5.2, sixth to fourth, 6+) and Mediaco Holding Rhythmic CHR WQHT “Hot 97” (3.2 – 3.9, #12 to #10, 6+) each improve by that magnitude. “La Mega” had been a collective -1.7 the past three months (6.2 – 5.6 – 4.9 – 4.5, fifth to sixth, 6+). The July through October topline for “Hot 97” is: 3.2 – 3.3 – 3.2 – 3.9 (6+).
Meanwhile, Audacy Hot AC WNEW “NEW 102.7” – like “Lite FM” sputters by … seven-tenths (4.1 – 3.4, #8 to #12, 6+). “NEW 102.7” was locked on 3.8 (6+) in June, July, and August before picking up three-tenths to 4.1 (6+) in September.
Los Angeles
Not only does KRTH tack on a whopping full-share to September’s increase of one-tenth (7.2 – 7.3 – 8.3, 6+), “K-Earth 101” is #1 the sixth successive month. The Audacy Classic Hits outlet logged a 7.1 (6+) in July 2024 – however – this is the first time any Los Angeles station has crossed the eight-share range since iHeartMedia Adult Contemporary KOST “Coast 103.5” notched a 12.4 (6+) in “Holiday” 2024.
Sporting spikes of one-half share each are iHeartMedia Alternative KYSR “Alt 98.7” (3.1 – 3.6, #12 to #8, 6+) and its Sports Talk cluster-mate, KLAC “AM 570 LA Sports” (1.7 – 2.2, 6+), which surfaces on the top twenty at #19. The flagship of the 2025 World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers, KLAC is trending: 1.3 – 1.5 – 1.7 – 2.2 (6+).
In three straight increases, KLAC’s Hot AC sibling – KBIG – was a net +1.3 (4.5 – 4.9 – 5.0 – 5.8, 6+). In October though, “104.3 My-FM” forfeits nine-tenths to 4.9 (6+) and segues from second to third.
Chicago
The combination of iHeartMedia Adult Contemporary WLIT “93.9 Lite FM” adding two-tenths (4.7 – 4.9, 6+) and Hubbard Broadcasting-owned Classic Rock WDRV “97.1 The Drive” surrendering eight-tenths (5.0 – 4.2, 6+) results in “Lite” progressing from second to first, while “The Drive” falls from first to fourth. WLIT and WDRV were tied at #1 in July; “The Drive” was on top in June; and “Lite” had a one-tenth lead over “The Drive” in May to grab #1 honors. “Lite” has a very consistent June through October topline of: 4.8 – 4.9 – 4.9 – 4.7 – 4.9 (6+).
In the spoken-word arena, Audacy Sports Talk/Cubs and Bulls flagship WSCR “670 The Score” bumps up six-tenths (3.4 – 4.0, #11 to #5, 6+), while Nexstar Media Group News/Talk and Blackhawks flagship WGN erodes by seven-tenths (4.3 – 3.6, 6+) with “Radio 720” departing the top ten (#5 to #12).

Following three straight months without an increase for a net -2.6 (11.3 – 9.8 – 8.7 – 8.7, 6+), KQED Inc.-owned public News/Talk KQED picks up one-tenth to 8.8 (6+) and is #1 the tenth consecutive sweep. Entering the August sweep, “Mix” was steady in the 4.1 – 4.6 range for six straight sweeps (4.4 – 4.4 – 4.6 – 4.1 – 4.5 – 4.2, 6+).
The station “Mix” succeeded at #1 in August – Cumulus Media’s Country-formatted KPLX “99.5 The Wolf” – regains the seven-tenths it lost this time last month (5.4 – 4.7 – 5.4 (6+) and is back on top (fourth to first). Atlanta
Albeit down one-tenth (7.8 – 7.7, 6+), Cox Media Group-owned WSB-AM repeats at #1. At this time last month, “Atlanta’s News & Talk” recorded an increase of nine-tenths (6.9 – 7.8, 6+), which halted three straight modest dips that resulted in a combined -.6 (7.5 – 7.1 – 7.0 – 6.9, 6+).

Philadelphia
On the heels of September’s +1.4 (7.1 – 8.5, 6+), Phillies and Eagles flagship WIP “Sports Radio 94” adds seven-tenths to 9.2 (6+) and repeats at #1. This (9.2) is the Audacy-owned Sports Talk outlet’s best 6+-showing since January’s 9.8. In three straight gains, WIP’s internet stream is a net +1.2 (2.0 – 2.6 – 2.8 – 3.2, #14 to #13, 6+).

A combined -1.0 in September and October (4.8 – 4.4 – 3.8, 6+), University of Pennsylvania Triple A WXPN “88.5 XPN” slips from seventh to ninth.
Nassau-Suffolk (Long Island)
For the second time in the last three months, iHeartMedia CHR WHTZ (6.5 – 7.3, +.8, second to first, 6+) is this market’s #1 station. Prior to September’s loss of four-tenths, “Z-100” had been a net +1.1 via three straight months without a loss (5.8 – 6.2 – 6.2 – 6.9, 6+).
WHTZ succeeds Red Apple Media News/Talk “77 WABC,” which drops six-tenths (6.8 – 6.2, 6+) and shifts to second, after a September-only stay at #1. WABC was a combined -1.5 in July and August (6.7 – 6.4 – 5.2, 6+), but a whopping +1.6 in September. Earning a collective +4.1,WABC’s February – June topline was: 2.6 – 3.9 – 5.2 – 6.5 – 6.7 (6+).

As Univision Spanish Adult Hits KBRG “Amor 100.3” notches a gain of four-tenths (5.3 – 5.7, 6+), Audacy’s KCBS-AM & KFRC-FM “All News AM 740 & FM 106.9” falters by two-tenths (5.7 – 5.5, 6+). Consequently, “Amor” progresses from second to first, trading places with “All News AM 740 & FM 106.9.” Four different stations have held the #1 spot in this Northern California metro during the 2025 calendar year. Bonneville International Adult Contemporary KOIT-FM “Better Music For A Better Workday” did so in January; February; March; June; and was tied at the top in July. “Amor 100.3” was #1 in April; August; and now in October, while co-owned Regional Mexican KSOL “Que Buena” reigned in May. Off six-tenths, iHeartMedia Adult Contemporary KISQ “98.1 The Breeze” (flat at #12) records its eighth successive topline stat between 2.2 – 2.8 (2.3 – 2.3 – 2.4 – 2.7 – 2.7 – 2.4 – 2.8 – 2.2, 6+).

Immediately prior to August, “Magic” was a combined -1.8 in four successive losses (7.2 – 5.9 – 5.8 – 5.7 – 5.4, 6+). The Audacy Adult Contemporary facility, which held – or shared – #1 honors five straight months before shifting to third in July, is #1 the third straight month – but – has company in the penthouse. Not only does Beasley Broadcast Group Classic Hits “105.7 WROR” respond to August’s loss of six-tenths (5.3 – 4.7, 6+) with September and October’s combined +1.8 (4.7 – 5.8 – 6.5, 6+), it progresses from second to a first-place tie with “Magic.”

Seattle
Just as an October deadlock at #1 exists in Boston (see above), there’s a #1 stalemate here as well. Owing to six February through August upticks in succession, Bonneville International-owned KIRO-AM “Seattle Sports 710 AM” essentially quadrupled its 6+- stat for a net +4.7 (1.6 – 2.0 – 4.1 – 4.2 – 4.7 – 5.4 – 6.3, 6+). While the flagship of the Mariners and Seahawks lost a modest one-tenth in September, it explodes in October with a +2.9 to 9.1 (6+), progressing from second to first. It’s locked there with “94.9 KUOW,” which is on top the tenth straight survey period. Off one-tenth to 9.1 (6+), the University of Washington-owned News/Talk outlet had been a combined +1.7 in four consecutive gains (7.5 – 7.9 – 8.4 – 9.1 – 9.2, 6+).
