About Robin Seymour: Robin Seymour, born Seymour Samuel Altman on March 9, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan, was a pioneering radio and television personality who significantly influenced the city’s music scene during the 1950s and 1960s. After graduating from Central High School in 1944, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning a Bronze Star. Post-war, Seymour began his broadcasting career with WKMH in Dearborn, Michigan, where his show “Bobbin’ with Robin” gained immense popularity. He was among the first white DJs in Detroit to play music by African American artists, helping to bridge racial divides in the music industry. In 1963, Seymour co-created the television show “Teen Town,” which later evolved into “Swingin’ Time.” This program showcased numerous Motown artists, including Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, and The Temptations, providing them with a platform to reach wider audiences. After leaving broadcasting in the 1980s, Seymour moved to California and later to Texas. He passed away on April 17, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 94.
