Jim Feliciano, Co-Publisher

For nearly 13 years, Jim Feliciano served as the curator and owner of the former Motor City Radio Flashbacks, a tribute site honoring the voices, sights, and sounds of Detroit radio, all from the past six decades.

Jim’s passion for radio began in his early childhood when, at the age of five, his mother introduced him to the kitchen radio, right before school, often tuned to WJR or WJBK. His fascination deepened in 1962 when, for his 9th birthday, he received his own transistor radio. From that point on, Jim became an avid enthusiast and historian of 1960s Detroit radio.

In 1980, at the age of 27, Jim pursued his interest in broadcasting by enrolling at the Specs Howard School of Broadcasting Arts in Southfield, Michigan, where he graduated in 1981. His radio career included roles at WJLB, WCAR, WMTG, and WNIC 100.3 FM, where he worked weekends running the station’s  Sunday all-night programming from 1984 to 1987.

Jim attended Western High School in Southwest Detroit in the early 1970s. Later, and long after his post-radio days, he followed and completed his coursework in the OR Tech field and took courses in Sterilization Processing at Wayne County Community College in Romulus, Michigan. After a dedicated career as an instrument technician at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC), he retired in December 2016, and moved to the Sunshine State in January 2017, where he currently resides today.
