Shown here are my takeaways from all 48 PPM-measured markets, based on Nielsen Audio’s 6+ total week stats from the August 2025 ratings period (July 24 – August 20).

Round One

New York

Setting the pace a whopping 36th  consecutive time, iHeartMedia-owned Adult Contemporary WLTW adds a modest +.2 to July’s increase of nine-tenths (7.5 – 8.4 – 8.6, 6+) as “106.7 Lite FM” records its highest 6+-share (8.6) since “Holiday” 2024’s 13.1. After trending 1.2 – 1.4 – 1.6 – 1.3 (April 2025 – July 2025), Emmis-owned Spanish Contemporary WEPN-FM “La Exitosa 98.7” busts out a +.7 to 2.0 (#20 to #17, 6+). Seven-tenths proves to be an interesting fluctuation point for Spanish Broadcasting System Spanish Tropical WSKQ “La Mega 97.9.” The main FM signal loses seven tenths, while its internet stream improves by that margin. Whereas WSKQ-FM is now a collective -1.3 in July and August (6.2 – 5.6 – 4.9, third to fifth), its internet stream notches its third straight gain for a net +1.4 (.6 – .9 – 1.3 – 2.0, #20 to #17, 6+).

Los Angeles

A net +1.8 as a result of three straight upticks (5.6 – 5.9 – 6.6 – 7.4, 6+), Audacy Classic Hits KRTH drops two-tenths in August to 7.2 (6+). Nonetheless, “K-Earth 101” is #1 the fourth month in a row. Advancing by four-tenths each are: KRTH’s Smooth AC sibling KTWV “94.7 The Wave” (4.5 – 4.9, unchanged in fourth-place, 6+); Spanish Broadcasting System Regional Mexican KLAX “97.9 La Raza” (3.0 – 3.4, #12 to #10, 6+); and Estrella Media’s similarly-formatted KBUE “Que Buena” (1.5 – 1.9, #19, 6+). Following April’s 4.8 (6+), Audacy-owned KNX was locked on 4.5 (6+) in May, June, and July. Now in August, “KNX News 97.1 FM” stumbles by six-tenths to 3.9 (fourth to sixth), its lowest 6+-showing since December 2024 (also 3.9).

Chicago

It actually takes next-to-nothing to break July’s tie at #1: iHeartMedia Adult Contemporary WLIT “93.9 Lite FM” remains flat at 4.9 (6+), while Hubbard Broadcasting-owned Classic Rock WDRV “97.1 The Drive” is off just two-tenths (4.9 – 4.7, 6+) and slips to the runner-up slot. In May, “Lite” maintained a slim one-tenth lead over “The Drive” to occupy the top spot; however, “The Drive” took over at #1 the following month. Not only does iHeartMedia’s WCHI continue its alternating up/down pattern that surfaced in January, “Rock 95.5” does so in a major way with a +1.1 to zoom from #20 to #13 (2.0 – 2.2 – 2.1 – 2.2 – 2.0 – 2.3 – 2.1 – 3.2, 6+). A combined +.9 the two previous sweeps (3.9 – 4.7 – 4.8, 6+), Cumulus Media-owned WLS-FM “94.7 Chicago’s Classic Hits” falters by one-half share in August to 4.3 (third to sixth, 6+).

San Francisco

Albeit a substantial net -2.6 in July and August (11.3 – 9.8 – 8.7, 6+), KQED Inc.-owned public News/Talk KQED is #1 the eighth straight month. Its variations the past four sweeps have been: -1.0 (May); +1.7 (June) -1.5 (July); and -1.1 (August). iHeartMedia Urban Contemporary “106.1 KMEL” triples July’s +.2 with an August +.6 (2.8 – 3.0 – 3.6, tenth to eighth, 6+); 3.6 is its strongest 6+-stat since October 2024’s 3.7. Spiraling from #13 to #20, Bonneville Classic Rock KUFX is a combined -1.2 the past two survey periods (2.8 – 2.5 – 1.6, 6+). This marks the third time in the last six months “98.5 K-Fox” has recorded a 1.6 (1.6 – 1.6 – 1.7 – 2.8 – 2.5 – 1.6, 6+).

Dallas

Steady in the 4.1 – 4.6 range the past six sweeps (4.4 – 4.4 – 4.6 – 4.1 – 4.5 – 4.2, 6+), iHeartMedia Hot AC KDMX explodes with a massive +2.3 to 6.5 (6+), as “Mix 102.9” vaults from sixth to first. Dislodged from the top spot after back-to-back months there and segueing to second is Cumulus Media’s Country-formatted KPLX “99.5 The Wolf,” which is actually without a loss the third straight month (4.8 – 5.3 – 5.4 – 5.4, 6+). At the same time as KPLX’s Sports Talk cluster-mate KTCK “The Ticket” adds six-tenths (4.7 – 5.3, unchanged in third-place, 6+), iHeartMedia Classic Rock KZPS “Lone Star 92.5” regresses by that margin (4.3 – 3.7, fifth to tenth, 6+). “The Ticket” was a combined -1.2 in June and July (5.9 – 5.1 – 4.7, 6+); “Lone Star” was +.9 in the same period (3.4 – 4.0 – 4.3, 6+).

Houston

While the March 2025 through August 2025 topline for Urban One Urban AC KMJQ’s is extremely steady: 6.3 – 6.3 – 6.6 – 6.5 – 6.5 – 6.7 (6+), its gain of two-tenths this sweep is sufficient to propel “Majic 102.1” from third to first. Thus, iHeartMedia Adult Contemporary KODA’s consecutive streak of #1 showings is curtailed at twelve12. In addition to slipping to the runner-up slot, “Sunny 99.1” is without an increase the fourth straight time for a net -1.3 (7.7 – 7.6 – 7.3 – 7.2 – 6.4, 6+). With an improvement of six-tenths, co-owned Urban Contemporary KQBT “93.7 The Beat” continues an alternating up/down sequence that began in March (4.0 – 4.1 – 3.7 – 4.1 – 3.8 – 4.4, tenth to eighth, 6+). Univision Spanish Adult Hits KOVE “Amor106.5” is a collective -1.7 in four successive declines (4.2 – 4.0 – 3.8 – 3.3 – 2.5, #12 to #18, 6+).

Atlanta

Even though it’s off a combined eight-tenths in July and August (8.2 – 7.5 – 7.4, 6+), Cox Media Group’s WSRV “Classic Hits 97.1 The River” is #1 the sixth consecutive survey period. June 2025’s 8.2 was the finest 6+-stat for “The River” in exactly one year (8.2, June 2024, as well). A collective -1.4 in three straight down or flat sweeps (4.1 – 4.1 – 3.4 – 2.7, 6+), iHeartMedia Urban Contemporary WRDG “96.1 The Beat” answers with August’s +.9 to 3.6 (6+) to progresses from #16 to #10. After logging a 3.5 (6+) in June and 3.6 (6+) last month, iHeartMedia Country WUBL “94.9 The Bull” falters by eight-tenths to 2.8 (#10 to #14), matching its lowest 6+-stat since “Holiday” 2024.

Philadelphia

Perched at #1 the sixth consecutive month, Beasley Broadcast Group’s WMGK “Classic Rock 102.9 MGK” has a June – July – August topline of: 8.3 – 8.5 – 8.1 (6+). Audacy-owned/Phillies flagship WIP continues its alternating up/down rollercoaster ride that started in February, with “Sports Radio 94” adding seven-tenths in August (7.5 – 5.3 – 7.2 – 6.4 – 6.7 – 6.4, 7.1, third to second, 6+). When Beasley Broadcast Group’s WMMR improved by three-tenths this time last month, it ended four straight slides that resulted in a net -1.3 (8.2 – 7.9 – 7.6 – 7.0 – 6.9, 6+). In August, however, “93.3 WMMR Rocks” craters by -1.5 to 5.7 (second to fourth, 6+).

Nassau-Suffolk (Long Island)

Not only is iHeartMedia CHR WHTZ a combined +1.1 via three straight up or flat trends (5.8 – 6.2 – 6.2 – 6.9, 6+), “Z-100” advances from third to first. It succeeds Audacy all-News “1010 WINS @ 92.3 FM,” which has a July-only stay at #1 and slips to second (6.6 -.3, 6+). Entering the August sweep, WINS notched three increases in a row for a net +1.3 (5.6 – 5.8 – 6.2 – 6.9, 6+). Also improving by seven-tenths – in addition to “Z-100” – are Cox Media Group Classic Rock “102.3 WBAB” (4.9, sixth to fourth, 6+) and Connoisseur Media Adult Standards WHLI “The Hits Of A Lifetime” (#16 to #12). Off -1.1 in June (4.5 – 3.4, 6+), WBAB rebounded in July with a +.8 to 4.2 (6+). Owing to four straight up or flat trends, WHLI has nearly doubled its 6+-stat (1.4- 1.7 – 1.7 – 1.9 – 2.6, 6+) and reaches a two-share for the first time since November 2024’s 2.2. Red Apple Media News/Talk “77 WABC” logged a stunning February 2025 – June 2025 topline of: 2.6 – 3.9 – 5.2 – 6.5 – 6.7 (6+), but is now a combined -1.5 in July and August (6.7 – 6.4 – 5.2, second to third, 6+).

Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario

On the heels of July’s robust +1.6, Entravision Spanish Adult Hits KLYY lops on another four-tenths (9.8 – 11.4 – 11.8, 6+), as “Jose” is #1 the eighth month in succession. Making modest gains of two-tenths each are: Univision Regional Mexican KSCA “La Nueva 101.9” (1.6 – 1.8, #13 to #10, 6+); San Bernardino Community College District News/Talk KVCR “91.9 NPR” (.4 – .6, #19 to #18, 6+); and iHeartMedia Triple A KMYT “Radio 94.5” (.3 – .5, #19, 6+). Meanwhile, after registering five straight advances for a net +1.4 (.5 – .6 – .9 – 1.1 – 1.8 – 1.9, 6+), Univision Spanish Adult Hits KRCD “Recuerdo” regresses by one-half share to 1.4 (#10 to #13, 6+).

San Jose

Last month’s tie at the top is broken, but neither of July’s penthouse occupants – Bonneville International Adult Contemporary KOIT-FM “Better Music For A Better Workday” nor Audacy’s KCBS-AM & KFRC-FM “All News AM 740 & FM 106.9” – claims #1 honors in August. Instead – powered by a whopping +1.4 – Univision Spanish Adult Hits KBRG “Amor 100.3” has sole possession of first-place (4.5 – 5.9, #4 to #1, 6+). KCBS-AM & KFRC-FM gains one-tenth (5.2 – 5.3, 6+), but slides to second; KOIT-FM drops eight-tenths (5.2 – 4.4, 6+) and takes over in third-place. Eradicating July’s loss of eight-tenths with an August increase of nine-tenths (3.9 – 3.1 – 4.0, 6+), iHeartMedia Hot AC KIOI “Star 101.3” progresses from ninth to sixth. Conversely, Alpha Media’s similarly-formatted KEZR “Mix 106.5” follows July’s +.3 with an August drop off nearly four times that magnitude (5.1 – 4.0, -1.1, 6+), slipping from third to a sixth-place tie with “Star.”

Middlesex-Somerset-Union

When WAXQ racked up a July +3.5 (6.3 – 9.8, 6+), it was the most gigantic (6+) June 2025 – July 2025 increase by any station in Nielsen Audio’s 12 Round One markets. Moreover, it enabled “Q-104.3” to progress from second to first. Forfeiting just three-tenths in August (9.8 – 9.5, 6+), the iHeartMedia Classic Rock outlet repeats at #1. Off a combined eight-tenths the past two sweeps (3.5 – 3.0 – 2.7, 6+), Audacy Sports Talk/Yankees flagship WFAN-FM “101.9 FM The Fan” bounces back with a +1.2 to 3.9 (#11 to #8, 6+), its best 6+ showing since November 2024’s 4.3. Entering the July sweep, iHeartMedia News/Talk WOR was a net +.7 via three straight gains (3.1 – 3.3 – 3.7 – 3.8, 6+); however “710 The Voice Of New York” follows July’s loss of one-tenth with a -1.1 (3.8 – 3.7 – 2.6, #9 to #12, 6+).

Round Two

Washington, DC

Not only is WTOP a net +3.4 via four straight increases (10.5 – 10.7 – 11.7 – 13.1 – 13.9, 6+), the Hubbard Broadcasting all-News operation repeats at #1 and is in double-digits (6+) the ninth successive survey period. This time last month, WTOP unseated American University News/Talk WAMU, which held the #1 spot 11 straight months. After trending in the 5.4 – 5.8 range seven c consecutive sweeps (5.7 – 5.5 – 5.4 – 5.4 – 5.8 – 5.7 – 5.8, 6+), Howard University Urban AC “96.3 WHUR” notches a +1.0 to 6.8 (6+) and is steady in third-place. Spiraling from #9 to #17, Audacy Spanish Tropical WLZL “El Zol 107.9” essentially has its 6+-share carved in half (3.4 – 1.8, -1.6, 6+); meanwhile, Radio One Urban Contemporary “93.9 WKYS” regresses by one full-share to 2.2 (#12 to #15, 6+). WKYS had a 6+-stat between 2.0 – 2.7 ten straight survey periods until it notched a July +.9 to 3.2 (6+).

Boston

Over and above answering a combined -1.8 in four successive losses (7.2 – 5.9 – 5.8 – 5.7 – 5.4, 6+) with an August +1.2 to 6.6 (6+), Audacy Adult Contemporary WMJX returns to #1. “Magic 106.7” held – or shared – #1 honors five straight months before segueing to third in July. Meanwhile, it’s a July-only stay at the top for iHeartMedia Classic Rock “100.7 WZLX,” which slips to second. Nonetheless, WZLX retains a very consistent February through August topline: 5.2 – 5.7 – 5.4 – 5.3 – 5.1 – 5.7 – 5.2 (6+). After registering a July loss of one-half share, Beasley Broadcast Group Rhythmic Hot AC WBQT “Hot 96.9” fully wipes it away with a +.7 (3.9 – 3.4 – 4.1, #13 to #10, 6+). As a result of an August regression of nine-tenths to 4.7 (second to fourth, 6+), Audacy Hot AC WWBX “Mix 104.1” forfeits the combined six-tenths it garnered the past two sweeps (5.0 – 5.3 – 5.6, 6+).

Miami

An Adult Contemporary facility holds #1 bragging rights in back-to-back months. In August, it’s Cox Media Group’s WFEZ, which progresses from second to first. “Easy 93.1” is a net +1.1 via three straight sweeps without a loss (6.0 – 6.0 – 6.5 – 7.1, 6+). This time last month, Audacy owned/similarly formatted WLYF made an identical second-to-first move; however, “101.5 Lite FM” drops one-half share (6.6 – 6.1, 6+) and slips to third. WLYF had been locked on 6.6 (6+) in May, June, and July. Jumping from #18 to #12, Educational Media Foundation Contemporary Christian WMLV “K-Love” adds six-tenths to July’s +.2 (2.4 – 2.6 – 3.2, 6+). Immediately after being a combined +1.1 in June and July (3.1 – 3.4 – 4.2, 6+), iHeartMedia Classic Hits WBGG “Big 105.9” relinquishes the entire gain – plus two tenths more – freefalling from #7 to #15  (2.9, -1.3, 6+).

Seattle

In addition to being #1 the eighth month in a row and crossing the nine-share level (6+), University of Washington-owned News/Talk “94.9 KUOW” is a net +1.6 in three upticks in succession (7.5 – 7.9 – 8.4 – 9.1, 6+). Elsewhere, this (+.9) is the sixth consecutive increase for Bonneville International’s KIRO-AM “Seattle Sports 710” for a whopping collective +4.7 (1.6 – 2.0, 4.1 – 4.2 – 4.7 – 5.4 – 6.3, 6+); the Mariners flagship pushes up from third to second. Conversely, noncommercial Friends Of KEXP Alternative KEXP craters by -1.3 and is a combined -1.7 in July and August (4.4 – 4.0 – 2.7, #11 to #17, 6+).

Detroit

  • Absent from the lead position since March, iHeartMedia Adult Contemporary “100.3 WNIC” returns in dramatic fashion with a mammoth +1.5 (6.7 – 8.2, second to first, 6+). Even though Audacy Sports Talk WXYT-FM puts up a +.4 (7.7 – 8.1, 6+),“97.1 The Ticket” slips to second; the Tigers flagship held the top spot the past four months. Its internet stream also adds four-tenths and has doubled (net +1.6) its 6+-stat via six straight up or flat trends (1.6 – 1.7 – 2.1 – 2.1 – 2.3 – 2.8 – 3.2, #16 to #13, 6+). Stacking four-tenths onto July’s +.2 (3.3 – 3.5 – 3.9, 6+), iHeartMedia Urban Contemporary “97.9 WJLB” holds steady at #11. Essentially losing half its 6+-stat (net -1.5) in back-to-back declines (3.2 – 2.7 – 1.7, 6+), Stanley and Judith Frankel Family Foundation Classical – Jazz hybrid “90.9 WRCJ” falls from #17 to #19.

Phoenix

Hubbard Broadcasting “Classic Rock 100.7 KSLX” and iHeartMedia Adult Contemporary KESZ “99.9 KEZ” were deadlocked for the lead in June and July. Although down nine-tenths (9.1 – 8.2, 6+), KSLX emerges on top in August, thus posting its fifth straight month at #1. Entering the August sweep, it notched seven consecutive increases for a net +3.7 (5.4 – 5.6 – 5.8 – 5.9 – 7.5 – 8.1 – 8.3 – 9.1, 6+). Meanwhile, KESZ sputters by a staggering -2.9 (9.1 – 6.2, 6+) and takes over the runner-up slot. KESZ reigned as market leader 21 successive survey periods before KSLX unseated it in April; “99.9 KEZ” was a combined +1.8, owing to three upticks in a row (7.3 – 7.4 – 8.3 – 9.1, 6+). After trending 2.4 – 2.7 – 3.0 – 2.7 (April through July, 6+), iHeartMedia CHR KZZP “104.7 Kiss FM” explodes with a +1.3 to 4.0 (#12 to #6, 6+).

Minneapolis

Leading the field the eighth straight month, iHeartMedia Sports Talk KFXN “100.3 The Fan” racks up a +1.1 to 9.2 (6+), thus pulling the plug on three straight declines that led to a collective -2.8 (10.9 – 9.8 – 8.4 – 8.1, 6+). Improving by seven-tenths each are University of Northwestern – St. Paul Contemporary Christian “98.5 KTIS-FM” (7.2 – 7.9, steady at #2, 6+) and iHeartMedia CHR “101.3 KDWB” (4.6 – 5.3, tenth to sixth, 6+). Conversely, KDWB’s Classic Hits sibling – KQQL “Kool 108” (7.0 – 6.0, third to fourth, 6+) – and Audacy Adult Hits KZJK “104.1 Jack FM” (5.8 – 4.3, sixth to tenth, 6+) are -1.0 and -1.5, respectively.

San Diego

The last three (6+) fluctuations for Audacy Classic Hits KXSN have been: +1.0 (June); -1.4 (July); and +.9 (August); “Sunny 98.1” is #1 the eighth straight month (9.0 – 10.0 – 8.6 – 9.5, 6+). Frozen on 5.5 (6+) in May and June, co-owned Sports Talk KWFN “97.3 The Fan” faltered by a full-share in July. In a stunning comeback, however, the Padres flagship erupts with a +2.4 to 6.9 (6+), leaping from sixth to second. Still in that Audacy cluster, at the same time as Country “103.7 KSON” improves by +1.1 (4.3 – 5.4, seventh to sixth, 6+), co-owned Adult Contemporary sibling KYXY “Kick-See 96.5” falters by that same magnitude (6.6 – 5.5, third to fifth, 6+). KYXY had been up or flat the past five survey periods for a net +1.7 (4.9 – 5.0 – 5.4 – 5.8 – 5.8 – 6.6, 6+).

Tampa

After gaining seven-tenths in July, Cox Media Group Adult Contemporary WDUV surrenders seven-tenths (7.3 – 7.8 – 7.1, 6+); even so, “Lite Favorites 105.5” repeats at #1. While remaining in the runner-up slot, Radio Training Network Contemporary Christian WCIE “The Joy FM” is a combined -.7 in July and August (7.5 – 7.4 – 6.8, 6+). Back in April, WCIE sacked WDUV’s consecutive #1 streak … at 46. In addition to being #1 in April, “The Joy FM” finished on top in June. Up one-tenth in July (2.9 – 3.0, 6+), Cox Media Group Urban AC WTBV “101.5 The Vibe” logs an impressive +1.3 to 4.3, its best 6+-showing since February’s 5.5 (#13 to #9, 6+).

Denver

Following July’s loss of two-tenths, Bonneville International Adult Contemporary KOSI “Real Music Variety” is locked on 7.5 (7.7 – 7.5 – 7.5, 6+) and is #1 the sixth consecutive survey period. Powered by August’s +1.5, co-owned KKFN “Denver Sports 104.3 The Fan” exactly doubles (net +2.3) its 6+-stat in three straight upticks (2.3 – 2.4 – 3.1 – 4.6, 6+), zooming from #14 to #6. Having posted a 4.0 in June (#10, 6+) – but then being a no-show in July – Educational Media Foundation Contemporary Christian KLDV “K-Love” resurfaces at #17 (2.4, 6+). As a result of losing one full-share, KSE Radio Ventures Classic Hits KXKL “Kool 105” continues its alternating down/up pattern that began in March (5.9 – 5.5 – 6.1 – 5.3 – 5.6 – 4.6, third to sixth, 6+).

Baltimore

Owing to five straight gains, WWIN-FM was a net +3.2 (6.1 – 7.1 – 8.0 –  8.2 – 9.2 – 9.3, 6+). The next three fluctuations for “Magic 95.9” have been: -1.2 (June); +1.5 (July); and -1.0 in August (7.6 – 8.6, 6+). Bottom line: The Urban One Urban AC is #1 the seventh sweep in succession. Including August’s +1.1, its Urban Contemporary sibling – WERQ “92-Q Jams” – is without a loss the fifth time in a row for a collective +1.8 (5.0 – 5.0 – 5.0 – 5.4 – 5.7 – 6.8, fifth to second, 6+) and has its best 6+-stat (6.8) since November 2024’s 7.6. Regressing by nine-tenths each are Hearst Communications’ WIYY “98 Rock” and iHeartMedia’s Country formatted “93.1 WPOC,” both trending 6.5 – 5.6 (second to fourth, 6+). Up or flat in three straight sweeps for a combined +1.3 (6.2 – 6.8 – 6.8 – 7.5, 6+), “98 Rock” forfeited a full-share in July (7.5 – 6.5,  6+).

St. Louis

Off a combined six-tenths in June and July (9.6 – 9.5 – 9.0, 6+), Hubbard Broadcasting’s KSHE roars back with a powerful +1.9 to 10.9 (6+) and is #1 the eighth straight month; “Real Rock Radio” was last in double-digits in March (10.2, 6+). Posting increases of six-tenths each are KSHE’s Adult Hits sibling – WARH “106.5 The Arch” (steady in third-place, 6+) and Audacy Hot AC KYKY “Y-98” (4.2 – 4.8 (#12 to #8, 6+); “The Arch” is a net +1.5 via three straight gains (6.2 – 6.8 – 7.1 – 7.7, 6+). Elsewhere, Audacy Adult Contemporary “102.5 KEZK” (6.0 – 5.2, flat at #5, 6+) and iHeartMedia Urban AC KATZ-FM “100.3 The Beat” (#15 to #16) both falter by eight-tenths. KEZK was up  one-half share this time last month (5.5 – 6.0, 6+); “The Beat” is down or flat the fourth consecutive month for a collective -1.4 (3.5 – 2.9 – 2.9 – 2.9 – 2.1, 6+).

Round Three

Portland

Over and above being up a combined nine-tenths in July and August (8.6 – 9.3 – 9.5, 6+), iHeartMedia Classic Hits KLTH “106.7 The Eagle” soars from second to first. After ten consecutive survey periods at #1, co-owned Adult Contemporary KKCW “K-103” trades places with “The Eagle” and continues an alternating down-up pattern that commenced in March. “K-103” plummets by -2.1 in August (9.0 – 8.8 – 9.3 – 8.9 – 9.8 – 7.7, 6+) and has its lowest 6+-share (7.7) since November 2024’s 7.4. Improving by seven-tenths each are: Connoisseur Media Triple A KINK “Uniquely Portland” (5.6 – 6.3, steady at #5, 6+); CHR cluster-mate KBFF “Live 95.5” (2.8 – 3.5, #13 to #11, 6+); and Audacy’s KNRK “94.7 Alternative Portland” (2.6 – 3.3, #15 to #13, 6+). KINK had been -1.1 in four straight down trends (3.9 – 37 – 3.4 – 3.0 – 2.8, 6+), while KNRK is now a net +1.5 via four successive upticks (1.8 – 2.0 – 2.2 – 2.6 – 3.3, 6+).

Charlotte

Four consecutive (March through July) increases by Beasley Broadcast Group Adult Contemporary WKQC resulted in a +3.2 (5.7 – 6.5 – 8.1 – 8.8 – 8.9, 6+). While “K-104.7” surrenders an August -1.3 to 7.6 (6+), it remains on top the fourth straight month. The rollercoaster ride continues for Urban One Hot AC WLNK. In May, “Mix 107.9” notched a full-share increase; was then a combined -2.5 in June and July (5.6 – 4.5 – 3.1, 6+); and now answers with an August +1.8 to 4.9 (#14 to #9, 6+). At the same time as WLNK’s Urban-Rhythmic Oldies sibling WOSF “105.3 RnB” adds a +1.5 to July’s +.7 (4.7 – 5.4 – 6.9, sixth to second, 6+), Beasley Broadcast Group’s WSOC “Country 103.7” sputters by one full-share (7.4 – 6.4, second to fourth, 6+). “Country 103.7” had been a net +2.7 via six straight sweeps without a loss (4.7 – 5.6 – 6.0 – 7.1 – 7.1 – 7.1 – 7.4, 6+).

San Antonio

A Cox Media Group-owned facility is once again #1 and – for the first time since February – it’s Classic Hits KONO-FM  (6.7 – 7.6, +.9, second to first, 6+). “KONO 101.1” dislodges co-owned CHR KSMG “Hits 105.3,” which spirals by -2.5 (7.5 – 5.0, 6+) and lands in fifth place. Univision Regional Mexican KROM “Que Buena 92.9” and Texas Public Radio News/Talk KSTX have identical July – August profiles: 5.0 – 3.6, -1.4, seventh to ninth (6+). Meanwhile, the June through August topline for iHeartMedia Regional Mexican KQXT-HD3 is: .5 – .9 – 2.1 (#20, 6+). On top in March, April, and June, Cox Media Group’s “99.5 KISS Rocks San Antonio” is a combined -3.7 in July and August (8.4 – 5.9 – 4.7, fourth to sixth, 6+).

Sacramento

Down four-tenths in both June and July (9.4 – 9.0 – 8.6, 6+), iHeartMedia’s KFBK responds with an August gain of three-tenths to 8.9 (6+); “News 93.1” is #1 the fifth straight month. Co-owned Adult Contemporary KBEB “92.5 The Breeze” registers its third consecutive uptick for a net +1.3 (4.0 – 4.2 – 4.6 – 5.3, fifth to fourth, 6+). With August’s loss of eight-tenths, Bonneville International’s KNCI “New Country 105.1” continues its alternating up/down pattern that surfaced in April (4.8 – 5.1 – 4.8 – 5.2 – 4.4, fourth to fifth, 6+).

Pittsburgh

The game of tag at #1 continues between iHeartMedia Classic Hits WWSW “94.5 3WS” and Frischling Family Adult Hits WRRK “96.9 Bob FM,” with “3WS” (9.9 – 10.4, +.5, second to first, 6+) emerging as the victor in August. It holds a slim one-tenth advantage though over Pittsburgh’s version of “Bob” (10.7 – 10.3, first to second, 6+). The two stations were tied at #1 in January; WWSW was #1 solo the next five months; and “Bob” returned to the top in July. An increase of eight-tenths (3.0 – 3.8, 6+) enables Audacy-owned KDKA-AM “News Radio” to jump from #11 to #9. After picking up six-tenths in July (2.7 – 3.3, 6+), iHeartMedia Country-formatted WPGB “Big 104.7” surrenders nine-tenths to 2.4 (#10 to #12, 6+).

Salt Lake City

After a two-month hiatus from the top, Bonneville International Adult Contemporary KSFI “FM 100.3” returns there (6.7 – 7.4, +.7, second to first, 6+). It’s thus a July-only stay at #1 for independent KSOP-FM “Z-104 Utah’s #1 Country,” which swaps places with KSFI. There’s somewhat of a twist with KSOP-FM’s July and August rankings. Despite July’s one-tenth loss, it advanced from third to first, yet in August, KSOP-FM gained three-tenths (6.8 – 7.1, 6+), but fell from first to second. Entering the July sweep, “Z-104” had four straight increases for a net +2.2 (4.7 – 5.2 – 5.7 – 6.0 – 6.9, 6+). Having regressed by -1.2 in July (5.4 – 4.2, 6+), Cumulus Media Rock-formatted “KBER 101” wipes away three-quarters of the deficit with a +.9 to 5.1 (ninth to sixth, 6+). As a result of August’s -1.3, Brigham Young University’s KBYU “Classical 89” squanders in full the +1.3 it racked up in June and July (2.8 – 3.4 – 4.1 – 2.8, #10 to #15, 6+).

Las Vegas

In light of garnering seven-tenths to 8.2 (6+), iHeartMedia Adult Contemporary KSNE has its best 6+-showing since March (8.2, as well). Moreover, “Sunny 106.5” is #1 the eleventh successive survey period. Up a modest two-tenths in July (1.8 – 2.0, 6+), Beasley Broadcast Group’s KOAS “105.7 Maxima” adds a full-share to 3.0 (6+) and vaults from a four-way tie at #20 all the way to #9. Faltering by -1.2 and -1.0, respectively, are Audacy Rhythmic Hot AC KXQQ “Q-100.5” (5.0 – 3.8, third to fifth, 6+) and iHeartMedia Country KWNR “95.5 The Bull (4.1 – 3.1, fifth to eighth, 6+). “The Bull” was +1.3 in July (2.8 – 4.1, #12 to #5, 6+) and entered that sweep a combined -1.9 in May and June (4.7 – 3.5 – 2.8, 6+).

Orlando

Virtually erasing June and July’s combined -1.4 (9.9 – 8.6 – 8.5, 6+) with August’s +1.3 to 9.8 (6+), Cox Media Group-owned WCFB is #1 the fourth successive month. “Star 94.5” was +1.8 in May to 9.9 (6+), nearly equaling January’s 10.2. Down seven-tenths in July (5.2 – 4.5, 6+), iHeartMedia CHR WXXL “XL-106.7” bounces back with a +.9 to 5.4 (tenth to seventh, 6+). Relinquishing one full-share each are Audacy Classic Hits WOCL “105.9 Sunny FM” (8.0 – 7.0, flat at #2, 6+) and iHeartMedia Spanish Tropical WRUM “Rumba 100.3” (5.4 – 4.4, seventh to tenth. “Sunny” was down one-half share in July (8.5 – 8.0, 6+); “Rumba” is a combined -3.3 in three straight declines (7.7 – 6.1 – 5.4 – 4.4, 6+).

Cincinnati

Despite being a net +3.1 in six consecutive improvements (7.3 – 7.8 – 8.8 – 9.4 – 9.7 – 10.3 – 10.4, 6+), iHeartMedia-owned WLW “News Radio 700” drops to second; the Reds flagship concludes back-to-back months at #1. Bolstered by an impressive +1.4 (9.4 – 10.8, 6+), Cumulus Media Classic Hits “103.5 WGRR” progresses from second to first. Entering the August survey period, WGRR had been in an alternating up/down pattern that began in February: 9.2 – 9.8 – 8.7 – 9.1 – 8.3 – 9.4 (6+). A collective -1.4 via three straight dips (6.7 – 6.1 – 5.9 – 5.3, 6+), Hubbard Broadcasting Hot AC WKRQ “Q-102” answers with a +.9 to 6.2 (sixth to fourth, 6+). Owing to four straight losses for a net -1.5 (3.4 – 3.2 – 3.0 – 2.9 – 1.9, 6+), iHeartMedia CHR WKFS “Kiss 107.1” slides from #13 to #18.

Cleveland

The market leader in fifteen straight sweeps, iHeartMedia Classic Hits WMJI shifted to the runner-up slot in July; however, despite an August loss of seven-tenths (10.3 – 9.6, 6+), “Majic 105.7” returns to #1. Immediately prior to August, WMJI logged double-digits (6+) in nine of ten consecutive months. Urban One Urban AC “93.1 WZAK,” which boasted a gigantic combined +3.3 in June in July (7.2 – 9.0 – 10.5, 6+), sees all but two-tenths of that bounty evaporate with a colossal August -3.1 to 7.4 (first to fifth 6+). Having faltered by -1.5 in July to 7.0 (6+), Audacy Adult Contemporary WDOK recovers 80% with a +1.2 to 8.2 (fifth to second, 6+); “Star 102” was a combined +1.0 in May and June (7.5 – 7.6 – 8.5, 6+). Three consecutive gains by co-owned WNCX  yielded a +2.3 (5.9 – 6.1 – 7.2 – 8.2, 6+), but “98.5 Cleveland’s Classic Rock” surrenders six-tenths to 7.6 (third to fourth, 6+).

Kansas City

Down a collective -1.5 in May and June (12.4 – 12.0 – 10.9, 6+), Cumulus Media-owned KCMO-FM has roared back with a net +2.9 in July and August (10.9 – 13.4 – 12.38, 6+). Furthermore, “94.9 Kansas City’s Greatest Hits” is #1 the 16th survey period in succession. Hauling out a +1.6 and +1.1, respectively, are Steel City Media CHR KMXV “Mix 93.3” (5.0 – 6.6, fourth to third, 6+) and Audacy Sports Talk/Royals flagship KFNZ “96.5 The Fan” (2.7 – 3.8, #15 to #9, 6+). Both “Mix” and “The Fan” were -1.2 in July. Audacy News/Talk “98.1 KMBZ-FM” follows July’s half-share loss with a -.8 (5.4 – 4.9 – 4.1, fifth to eighth, 6+).

Columbus

The combination of Saga Communications Adult Contemporary WSNY “Sunny 95” gaining one-half share (8.0 – 8.5, 6+) and iHeartMedia Country “92.3 WCOL” deflating by eight-tenths (8.6 – 7.8, 6+) results in “Sunny” progressing from second to first, while WCOL slips from first to fourth. As “Sunny” has done in August, WCOL made a similar second-to-first advance in July. At the same time as Tegna Sports Talk WBNS-FM “97.1 The Fan” dials up a +1.4 (5.4 – 6.8, eighth to fifth, 6+), Urban One Urban AC WXMG “Magic 95.5” sputters by -1.3 (6.6 – 5.3, fifth to eighth, 6+). Just last month, “Magic” logged a +2.0, thus negating its net loss of -1.9 in four straight  sweeps without an increase (6.5 – 5.3 – 5.0 – 5.0 – 4.6, 6+).

Round Four

Austin

Mirroring what they did this time last month, University of Texas at Austin-owned News/Talk “KUT 90.5” (flat at 9.6, second to first, 6+) and Sinclair Telecable/Waterloo Media Group Adult Hits KBPA “103.5 Bob FM” 9.7 – 8.9, -.8, first to second, 6+) swap places. Prior to taking over at #1 in July with a +2.0, “Bob” last occupied the top spot in April. KUT entered the July sweep either holding or being tied at #1 five previous sweeps in succession. In July and August, it posts its highest 6+-performance (9.6) since January and February (10.1, each of those survey periods). Racking up an impressive +1.2, Univision Regional Mexican KLQB continues an alternating up/down pattern that began in April (3.2 – 2.9 – 3.2 – 2.6, 3.8, #14 to #9); “Que Buena 104.3” has its highest 6+-share since February (3.8, as well). Locked on 4.9 (6+) in June and July, Curtis Media Group Adult Hits WBBB “96.1 BBB” explodes with a massive +2.1 to 7.0 (6+), vaulting from ninth to fifth. WBBB last reached the 7-share range in June 2024 (7.1). At the same time as “96.1 BBB” Classic Hits cluster-mate WKIX-FM “KIX 102” improves by +1.9 (6.1 – 8.0, sixth to third, 6+), iHeartMedia Country WNCB “B-93.9” deflates by that magnitude, slicing its 6+-share in half (3.8 – 1.9, #11 to #15, 6+). “KIX 102” is bouncing back from July’s -1.6; “B-93.9” gained eight-tenths this time last month. Notching an August +1.3 and +1.1, respectively, are Urban One Urban AC WFXC “Foxy” (7.2 – 8.5, fifth to second, 6+) and Educational Information Corporation’s WCPE “89.7 The Classical Station” (4.2 – 5.3, tenth to eighth, 6+).

Co-owned Country WLHK “97.1 Hank FM” adds nine-tenths to July’s +.4 (5.4 – 5.8 – 6.7, sixth to fifth, 6+). Up eight-tenths and jumping from ninth to fifth, iHeartMedia Urban Contemporary WKKV “V-100.7” is a combined +1.4 in five straight up or flat trends (3.7 – 3.7 – 3.7 – 3.9 – 4.3 – 5.1, 6+). With a loss of one full-share, Saga Communications-owned WKLH “Classic Rock 96.5” continues a down/up sequence that commenced in March (5.5 – 5.3 – 6.0 – 5.6 – 5.7 – 4.7, fourth to seventh, 6+).

Immediately after boasting July’s +1.5, Sinclair Telecable Adult Hits WNOB forfeits all of it (and two-tenths more) with August’s -1.7. As a result, “93.7 Bob FM” continues an alternating up/down pattern that surfaced back in December 2024 (6.7 – 6.1 – 6.8 – 6.0 – 6.6 – 6.5 – 7.0 – 6.3 – 7.8 – 6.1, flat at #2, 6+).
